Meet The Sixteen alto Kim as she discusses hobbies and fiendishly difficult repertoire
What do you do to relax in your spare time?
Lots of walking in the hills of County Durham with our collie, Fen. Painting and cooking too.
If you could perform in any venue, what / where would it be?
I really like St John’s Kirk, Perth, it’s a fantastic acoustic for Sixteen concerts and a lovely audience.
Is there a piece you have fallen in love with since performing it with The Sixteen?
William Byrd’s Infelix ego from the 2010 Choral Pilgrimage.
What has been the most challenging piece of music you have ever sung?
Notes wise, probably Brian Ferneyhough’s Missa Brevis, it’s fiendish but I quite like it.
Who were you, or would you be nervous to meet?
I’ve sung for Boulez, (Pete the Beat) and used to be quite apprehensive about rehearsing with him.
What do you think you would be doing if you weren’t a singer?
I might be a chef.
What would your ultimate desert island disc be?
Bach’s B Minor Mass.
What would you eat for your last supper?
A feisty chicken curry.
And the obligatory question…What football team do you support?!
Sunderland occasionally…
